United States: Thousands in Long Beach, Los Angeles, and Washington, DC, joined a protest on April 6 by chanting, “Hands Off!” 

Not everyone stood for unions, LGBTQ+ issues, or Palestine, yet most protestors showed up together to oppose what Trump and Musk stood for. 

From 4:30 p.m. at Pershing Square, the Los Angeles protest made its way to the city hall by 5:30 p.m. 

A large Trump inflatable was in Downtown Los Angeles alongside many signs, including “Get dictators out to defend America,” “Keep your hands off our freedom,” and “Trump and the Republican Party are not friends of Democracy.” 

United Front Against Trump and Musk 

The Downtown LA protest was attended by members of labor unions, LGBTQ+ advocates, and many other groups. 

A member of the Los Angeles “Hands Off” Cuba committee, Mark Friedman, said the protests encouraged him. 

Voices Call to Defend Democracy 

“People are coming together and you saw from the signs, all different issues, but if you put them all together, it’s the defense of the working class, defense of immigrants, defense of the Constitution, defense of Social Security,” Friedman stated. 

“Everything that the Trump administration is attempting to take away from working people,” as he continued. 

It was obvious from the protests in Los Angeles that people were angry and united. 

Holme said Trump embodies the seven deadly sins, and what he does is horrifying and appalling. 

According to Holme, Elon Musk was kept busy handing out awards of one million dollars each to the Supreme Court. 

“We have the richest man in the world who is giving out million dollar checks to people and they have the nerve to say Democrats were buying votes, give me a break,” Holme added. 

After walking in Downtown Los Angeles in large numbers, the protestors gathered in front of Los Angeles City Hall, where many onlookers lined up safely behind the barriers. 

After another question, the protest ended with sundown, with protestors walking outside of the City Hall, accompanied by their families and friends, holding up different signs. 

United States: On Monday, the president and first lady gathered in the White House Rose Garden so he could sign a new law addressing revenge porn which was championed by the first lady. 

“I want to thank my husband, President Trump, for standing with us on this effort,” Melania Trump stated, with a riot of pink roses in bloom behind her. 

What is the Take It Down Act? 

The bill, known as the Take It Down Act, commands social media platforms to promptly take down sexually explicit pictures and videos of others, including “deepfakes,” if they were uploaded without consent. It was created to support teen survivors.

“Artificial Intelligence and social media are the digital candy for the next generation — sweet, addictive and engineered to have an impact on the cognitive development of our children,” the first lady stated, the New York Times reported. 

“But unlike sugar, these new technologies can be weaponized, shape beliefs and, sadly, affect emotions and even be deadly,” she added.

United States: In a shocking incident that has rocked Palm Springs, California, the FBI has declared a recent car explosion an act of terrorism. 

Deadly Blast Rocks Palm Springs Clinic 

The blast occurred outside the American Reproductive Centers, a local fertility clinic, claiming one life and leaving four others injured. 

The explosion, which originated from a vehicle parked near the facility, tore through the area with devastating force.
